Biography
Deepika Volquardsen
Deepika Volquardsen is the author of Nimbu Paani. Originally from Hyderabad, India, she eventually moved to the US to pursue her higher education.
She now works as a data engineer for a major US company. When she’s not working or writing children’s books, she’s spending time with her husband and two children. Her oldest child was the inspiration for Nimbu Paani. Deepika’s four year old would ask her why she couldn’t find more books featuring an Indian child ( browned skinned with a bindi (dot)) she could better relate to. With that innocent question presented before her, Deepika set out to answer it. We all do remember our childhood summer time that we spent at our Grand parents who used to make the evenings more sweet by making Nimbu Paani which quenched our thirsts after a long day of play in the hot sun. In order to have our kids re-live those memories she wrote this book with beautiful illustrations.
Children’s books play a huge role in developing a child’s imagination and outlook. They not only immerse children in fascinating stories, but also help them to better understand the world around them. The author of Nimbu Paani, Deepika Wolvardsen, creates works that introduce young readers to traditions and culture. Such books become a bridge between generations, conveying values in an easy and accessible way.

Biography
Radha Yamini
My art journey started very young but I only realised my full potential in 2019 when I decided to be a full time artist, and I’m proud to say that I’m a self taught and a versatile artist in both traditional and digital mediums.
My interests in best out of waste, upcycling and product designing always inspire me to do more as I believe art truly is the way the world is built. It’s everywhere. It’s in everything! I practice sustainability in my life to some extent and I love bringing that to my art.
I also absolutely love teaching and love sharing the knowledge I’ve learnt with everybody. To fulfill that passion, me and my father have opened an art school to teach art in a very practical and a fun way to all age groups.
While my pursuit to reach more kids grew, that’s when Nimbu Paani happened and I can only be thankful for the collaboration with Deepika. I feel great joy when I see so many kids and adults too loving the character I created. This is just a beginning and looking forward to create a lot more. Keep in touch with @rad_art_1 for exciting things!
Best Selling Books
NimBu PaAni is not like any book I have read before. Amulya is no Skippy Jon Jones with wild adventures, nor is she an abstract mouse looking for a cookie. Amulya is a regular girl who has a good day.
I liked the aesthetic of this book. The art is good, but especially the Indian names and words make an impression and give the story character: Without the unusual words, the book would lose flavor and perhaps meaning.
An enormous appeal I found in this story was the message of community and of putting in the effort. It is a simple, but important idea that one spends valuable time with their family, and it is an essential point that the characters made lemonade, rather than bought it. Some of my favorite childhood memories were those at home with my mom or dad, which is a lesson that should be taught early.
I was especially pleasantly surprised to find the recipe at the end of the story. Surely families will see it to have just as good a day together as Amulya and her mother did.
Jackson Zondor (Age 16)

We recently got a copy of “NimBu PaAni”; it is a delight! This is a sweet story about overcoming challenges from a child’s perspective with emotional and educational lessons sprinkled throughout. My 2 & 5 year olds love to mimic the little girl as she goes through the steps of making juice. We highly recommend NimBu PaAni!
Cassandra Alexandar (Mother of 2-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son)

“The cultural richness woven into NimBu PaAni’s stories is truly captivating. It’s a beautiful way to introduce my children to different traditions and values. Thank you for making learning so much fun!”
